The city of Yazd’s first mention in historic records predate it back to around 3000 years BC when it was related to by the name of Ysatis, Yazd is said to be the ‘oldest living city in the world, and was then part of the domain of Medes, an ancient settler of Iran.

Borj-e Khamooshan(the tower of silent): A dakhma, also known as a Tower of Silence, is a circular, raised structure built by Zoroastrians for excarnation, in order to avoid contamination of the soil and other natural elements by the dead bodies. Carrion birds, usually vultures, and other scavengers, consume the flesh.

Dolat Abad Garden, one of the Nine Persian Gardens. Interestingly, Dowlat Abad Garden with area of 70,000 m2 was registered in list of UNESCO’s gardens in 2011.

Eskandar(Alexander Prison): Zindan-i Iskandar Yazd, Iran: This monumental domed chamber, known locally as Zindan-i Iskandar (Alexander’s Prison), is situated at the center of the old city of Yazd.

Atashkadeh(Fire temple): This sacred temple is one of the nine Atash Behrams worldwide and the only one in Iran with the highest-grade Zoroastrian fire.
 
The Jameh Mosque of Yazd is a Friday mosque located in the city of Yazd, in the province of Yazd, Iran. Built on the site of a 9th-century CE fire temple, the mosque was completed during the 14th and 15th century CE and renovated in subsequent years.
